Malin Akerman Biography
Åkerman was born in Stockholm, Sweden; her family moved to Toronto, Canada when she was two years old. Since then her family has moved back to Sweden, but Malin stayed in Canada. She lived in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario for a short while, attending Parliament Oak Primary School, and then Sir Winston Secondary School. She has also lived in Toronto where she attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute and Dante Alighieri Academy
At the age of seventeen, Åkerman won the Ford Supermodel of Canada search. After a career in modeling she turned to acting and moved to California. She has had roles in several films including The Utopian Society (2003) with Sam Doumit and Austin Nichols; and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) as Freakshow's hot wife. She has made several TV guest appearances and in 2005 got the role as Juna in the HBO series The Comeback. She has also appeared on The Showbiz Show with David Spade as a correspondent and in the third season of HBO series Entourage in the role of "Tori". She is also lead singer in the rock band Ozono, later renamed the Petalstones.[citation needed] Åkerman starred in the 2007 Farrelly Brothers movie The Heartbreak Kid and in the 2008 film 27 Dresses. She will also play Silk Spectre II in the upcoming film adaptation of Watchmen. By mid-October, 2008, Åkerman has signed on to co-star in Couples Retreat, a comedy chronicling four couples who partake in therapy sessions at a tropical island resort. U.S. feature film debut was in the independent feature film, "The Utopian Society" where she met the films' editor, Francesco Sondelli who was also the founding band leader of "Ozono". Sondelli was the 2nd editor on "The Utopian Society" and had met Akerman when she went to loop a line of dialog at the then editor's house. Akerman was eventually absorbed into the the band which changed its name to "The Petal Stones", where she met and eventually married fellow band member and drummer, Roberto Zincone.
